As Executive Physician Advisor, Dr. Michael Barr brings essential clinical leadership and strategic insights to the Curitics team.
Dr. Barr is passionate about the promise of high-quality, accessible, equitable and affordable healthcare. Working with Curitics, he believes that with the right data, information, technology and tools, this potential can be achieved. At Curitics, Dr. Barr will leverage his extensive background in healthcare quality, innovation and improvement to drive better patient and provider outcomes.
Prior to joining Curitics, Dr. Barr served as executive vice president for the National Committee for Quality Assurance where he led the HEDIS® measurements team, oversaw digital measures strategy and directed research and analysis efforts. Before that, Dr. Barr was the senior vice president at the American College of Physicians. In this role, he led policy, program and product development, strategy implementation, advocacy and coalition building. He is also the founder of MEDIS, LLC, a consulting firm that works with ground-breaking companies like Curitics to improve the nation’s healthcare system through innovation and technology.
Dr. Barr received his medical degree from New York University. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor of Science in Forest Biology from State University of New York. In addition to his civilian service, Dr. Barr served in the United States Airforce as chief of internal medicine and staff internist at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Michael now lives outside Washington, D.C. When he’s not in the office, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, travel, exercise and composing music in his digital studio.
